Dargaz 

Daragz is one of the cities of Khorasan Razavi Province in the northeast of Iran. Its former name was Mohammadabad.

The history of this region in which Dargaz is located refers to pre-Islamic times and the Aryans` immigration to Iran Plateau.

This town is 1150 kilometers far from Tehran and 255 kilometers from Mashhad.

It is bounded to Iran –Turkmenistan border from north, from east and southeast to Mashhad and from west to Quchan. Its geographical coordinates is 37 and 36’ degrees north latitude, 59 and 6’ degrees east longitude. The altitude of this town from sea level is 500 meters that is not equal in its all regions.

The area of this town is about 4194 sq. kilometers. This town is 258 kilometrs far from the center of the province and it includes four parts: Central part, Nokhandan, Chapashlou, Lotfabad.

According to archeological researches in 1978 by L.CEHLL and DENIS L.HESKELL, the appropriate climatic status and the green pastures of Dargaz prepared a suitable place for human societies during history. The result is the financial and cultural successes. The people of Dargaz talks in Turki, Kurdi, Turkmani and Farsi languages, there are different clans in Dargaz such as, Kurd, Turk, Fars, and Turkmen, and Arab that each of them divides into different branches as well

The most important mountains of Dargaz are Allah-Akbar (Which is one of the Hezar-Masjed Mountain ranges, Churik, Manis and Kharposhti-Dagh and the most important rivers of this town are Darungar, Zanganlou and Ghare-Tikan .

The mines and underground sources consist of (lime, gypsum, galena, fuller's earth, marble). It has a relatively tropical climate
