Mahvelat is one of the cities of Khorasan Razavi Province which its center is Feyzabad town which it consists of two parts Central and Shadmehr. This city is limited to Torbat-Heydarieh from north, to Roshtkhar and Khaaf from east, to Gonabad from south and to Khalilabad from west .According to the statistics about 45000 live in different parts of this city. Mahvelat plain is located in the eastern lands of Salt desert and in the southwest of Torbat-Heydarieh and under the shadow of Hesar, Rud Ma'jan and Ghale Jugh ,Bayg, Sorkhabad Mountains in the north, Azghand , Siah, Fadafan Mountains in the west of Mahvelat and Kabir Mountain which it is located between Khaf and Roshtkhr and Gonabad plains form the ups and downs of  this region. Mahvelat has permanent rivers such as Hesar, Rud Ma'jan, Sorkhabad and Kal Shour Rivers.

Mah Vellayat (moon city) or disappearing of idols. The name of this city has been mentioned in the history book of Ali-Ibn –e Zeyd Beyhagh for the first time
