Roshtkhar is one of the cities of Khorasan Razavi Province. The capital of this city is Roshtkhar town. Nokhandan, Lotfabad and Chapeshlou are other towns of this city. Roshtkhar was separated from Torbat-heydarieh in 1381 and became a city. This city is located 200 km from Mashhad in the south. It is 4360 sq km. It is limited to Torbat-heydarieh from north and northeast, to Gonabad from southwest and south, to Khaaf from South and southwest. According to the divisions, it consists of two districts: Jangal and Markazi (Central) and four villages Astaneh, Roshtkhar, Jangal and Sho'beh. The population of this city was about 5601 in the year 1385. Archeological analysis proved it had inhabitants before the history record. There are many works which are remained from Kharazmshahyan.
